Pasta with Proscuitto and Walnuts

Fresh linguine (enough for 4 people)
2-3 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 lb. thinly sliced proscuitto, chopped
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1 roasted fresh red pepper or a 7-oz jar of roasted red peppers, chopped
1/2 cup pitted, chopped Kalmata olives
2 cups heavy cream (optional)
